WHAT DOES DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION MEAN TO US?
At Performing Arts Workshops - PAW Inc., our mission to illuminate our common humanity should be inseparable from our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our intention is for our students, teaching artists, patrons, donors, and community partners to consistently view us as stewards of a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible arts education experience.
We commit to implementing policies that embrace diversity amongst our staff, students, and programs, and we commit to an active leadership style that challenges and responds to any bias, harassment, and discrimination. We are committed to an intentional policy of equal opportunity for all persons and do not discriminate on the basis of race (including race-based hair discrimination), color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, (dis)ability, religion, height or weight. We commit to ensuring that our organization is a place where differences are welcomed, perspectives are respectfully heard, and where every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion.
We recognize that we all have implicit biases, but we will work hard to call these biases out and correct them through education and actions. We remain open to feedback from our community and we will remain active in our pursuits for a more inclusive and equitable society.
All of our students remain at the forefront of our mission. We want a better world for all of our students, and their families, especially of marginalized groups; including black, indigenous & people of color.
Please submit any DEI questions or concerns to August Garritano at [email protected].
